Pepperoni Pizza

Ingredients: 1 Cali’flour Crust (recommend Italian), 2–3 T red sauce, 1/2 c mozzarella cheese, 1/2 c turkey pepperoni, parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves for garnish. Prepare Pizza Crust: Pre-bake the Cali’flour Crust in an oven at 400 on a vented pizza pan, pizza screen, or on a non-stick cookie sheet lined with parchment paper for 12–14 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool of 10 minutes. Assemble Pizza: Apply a thin layer of sauce to the crust spreading to edge, then add mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and grated parmesan cheese. Return to oven for 5–7 min to melt cheese. Remove from oven to cool and then top with basil. Enjoy!

Do you prefer your pizza crust to be nice and crispy? Follow these steps for ultimate crispiness:

  • Heat your oven to 375–400 degrees (ovens can vary)
  • Place your frozen crust on a vented pizza pan or pizza screen
  • Cook for 10–12 minutes (flipping halfway not necessary if using this type of pan)
  • Let cool COMPLETELY — approximately 5–10 minutes {Revised step}
  • Top with desired toppings
  • Eat as-is or place back in oven directly under broiler for 1–2 minutes, or until toppings are warm.

Hip cooking tips when using Cali’flour crusts:

  • While the instructions advise cooking your flatbread for 10–12 minutes at 375°, plus an additional 2 minutes on broil once covered in toppings, I found this to result in overly crisped and slightly burnt crust. Instead, adjust the initial cook time to 7–8 minutes on your middle oven rack and then return to the oven for an additional 4–5 minutes while keeping the oven temp at 375°.
  • Allow your pizzas and flatbreads to cool for about 10 minutes before covering them with toppings and returning to the oven.
  • Use a vented pizza pan to ensure the bottom of your crusts and flatbreads cook up nice and firm.
  • Keep your crusts and flatbreads in the freezer while the oven preheats and remove them just before you’re ready to place them in the oven.
